Reflection Statement for Sculpture #1.

My intent is to visually communicate the disparities in housing in America between the older and younger generations. I wanted to focus on the juxtaposition between the raw, earthy nature of dry clay and wood against the softness and warmth of wool thread, symbolizing the contrast between the harsh reality of inadequate housing and the comfort of a safe home. I decided to include intricate weaving techniques with wool thread to represent the interconnectedness of communities affected by housing disparities. I felt the work was lacking depth, so I incorporated additional layers of texture and detail. I want to keep exploring social issues through mixed media. I want to learn more about the experiences of marginalized communities. This piece allowed me to explore the intersection of art and advocacy.

My aim is to depict housing disparities among younger generations. I contrast dry clay and wood's rawness symbolizing inadequate housing's harshness against the comfort of a safe home. To add depth, I layered textures. I'll continue exploring social issues via mixed media and learn more about marginalized communities. This work lets me delve into the intersection of art and advocacy as stated above.
